All about Easter Weekend

I thought I should blog about Easter before Thanksgiving rolls around, which at the rate I'm posting these days is a rather ambitious assumption.

So here's the Wood Life Easter weekend wrap-up.

On Saturday Handiman and The Ocho took advantage of the beautiful weather and began work on digging the holes for our fence columns. Did I mention we're getting a privacy fence? Because we totally are. It's the one thing every potential buyer of our house suggested we have. So now that there's absolutely no chance of selling, we're building one. That's how we roll.

Handiman worked all day long digging the holes while his assistant The Ocho played with snails in the back of his truck. Once the holes were dug, it was time for the cement and this time she actually had to contribute if she wanted to keep the title of "Handiman's Assistant". He poured and mixed while she supplied the water.

Afterwards, they decided to take advantage of the wet cement. I suggested a face-hole (a la Michael Scott) but they decided to go with the traditional handprint.

At the end of the day Ocho was drenched and filthy and Handiman had a lovely sunburn on his neck and back. The dubbed themselves "Lobster Boy and Water Girl". It was an Easter memory to last a lifetime.

Sunday morning we got all gussied up for church:


It was great to take my place in the choir for all three worship services. After 2 years of not singing on Easter, it was humbling to stand and watch the crowds worshipping and truly an honor to sing with our amazing choir. Our church had a lot of reasons to celebrate this year, not the least of which was Jesus. And celebrate we did.

After church, we came home to feast on the traditional Easter meal; leftover enchiladas. If you've never had an Easter enchilada, you don't know what you're missing.

Grandmommy stopped by that afternoon to participate in our egg hunt. The first round pitted her against The Ocho. Looks like youth and perseverance won out.


The second hunt was a showdown between me & Handiman, which ended in a tie. Sadly, there is no photographic evidence because the minute it was over he promptly retired to his recliner for the traditional Easter nap. After all, the next day we were leaving on our first family vacation in 3 years. And would you believe I'm actually going to post about it? Tomorrow?
