After all, you are a faithful attender and servant and you are certain God won't mind a bit if you decide to sleep in and lounge the day away.
Allow me to tell you what might happen.
- You might wake up at 6:00 completely unable to go back to sleep. After about 10 minutes of willing yourself back to slumber you'll decide it might be better to get up and take advantage of all that extra quiet time.
- You might then walk to your daughter's room to shut her door only to find her wide awake and ready to get up and play. And, of course, she will insist you play with her. Since you're skipping church and all.
- You might head to your in-laws for lunch and decide to run an errand to WalMart since it's nearby and you rarely venture "into town". Once you're there you might realize WalMart is not the place you want to be on Sunday afternoon.
- You might then discover that WalMart no longer carries any of the items on your list. Except for toothpaste. So you just might have to stop at 2 more stores on your way back making your 20 minute errand last an hour.
- Once your minutes away from returning to the in-law's you might find you're almost out of gas and the nearest fuel pump is at a sweet neighborhood market. In Brentwood. (For those not familiar with our area, Brentwood is kind of the Bel Air of Nashville. And they're neighborhood gas stations don't accept your Kroger card)
- You might be due to teach children's choir in one hour and realize there is no longer time for that afternoon nap you had scheduled since you were up at the crack of dawn on your one day to sleep in.
- You might rush out the door with minutes to spare only to find your car battery is dead. And your husband has already left for church. And your daughter is certain it's the end of the world.
- You might finally make it to church only to discover in the manic panic of car trouble you've left every single thing you had prepared for choir on the table at home.
- Once the longest two hours in church servanthood are over you might be ready, so so ready, to go home. But of course there might be one child left in your classroom. 20 minutes past pick up time. And, of course, you won't know his parents so you can't hunt them down. So, you might finally ask him sweetly where his mom is and he might say "Oh my mom didn't bring me. It's her friend." Then you might learn the identity of said friend is actually one of your pastor's wives. And then all bets might be off.
- When you've finally made it home you might find a dear friend has left you a message while on outreach. And they might be sarcastically asking if you have any needs or prayer concerns since they "missed you at church this morning". And then you might decide you are definitely going to church next Sunday. And looking for new friends.

This post is just shocking and scandelous all at the same time. Skipping church? Are you kidding me? I've tried it before and it always turns out this way...always!
